I think it’s safe to say that the search for that awesome coffee shop or the perfect spot to hang out is a challenge for most of us. The definition of a successful café or restaurant experience will depend on everyone’s preference. While one may seek a tasting experience, another may look for a quiet coffee shop to slip into and soak up the town’s atmosphere. On the agenda: three food and beverage spots on Shefford street that allow you to get to know Bromont a bit better, each in their own way. Whether it’s their coffee, healthy meals or chocolate treats, each shop offers a little something that makes Shefford street unique.
The Musée du Chocolat
On Shefford street since 1986, the most popular sweet shop in the area is where you can taste one of over forty varieties of chocolate made in-house. I assure you you’ll find something to your taste. The Musée’s chocolate come in a wide array of flavours, from the most conventional to the most extravagant. Who would have thought that a strawberry-basil-balsamic treat would make me stray from my usual milk chocolate? If you’re particularly hungry, the Musée also has breakfast/lunch menu. Think you may be getting a sugar overdose? You can balance it out with some eggs, baked beans and more. Every dish on the menu is made in-house. For those curious to learn more about the place, you can take a tour of the Musée to familiarize yourself with each aspect of the creation of their famous chocolates. Last but not least, the chocolaterie has a patio at the bach, so you can enjoy your meal outside when the temperature allows.
Café 1792
The best neighbourhood coffee shop, Café 1792, offers coffee lovers a cozy place to get their daily caffeine fix. Reminiscent of Montreal cafés, the warm, minimalist décor is what gives the place its distinctive character. The owner, Alexe Bélanger, thoughtfully decorated the space herself as though it was her own home. The same attention to detail is reflected on the menu, where you can find diverse and sophisticated drink options. Each employee receives barista training to ensure everything is made according to the rules. As for the menu, it’s constantly evolving in an effort to keep improving each beverage. Some recipes are even created in-house – including my favourite drink, the Chocochai, only available at Café 1972. The patio surrounding the building makes the place truly irresistible. Located in a house, I promise you this café is worth a visit – it’s a definite favourite. Whether it’s to do homework by the fireplace or rent the meeting room, Café 1972 is a must-see in Bromont. Although it was intended for locals, this coffee shop is perfect for tourists who are looking to blend into the day-to-day of the town, all the while enjoying a quality beverage.

Gaïa
If you’re trying to find Gaïa restaurant, just look for the patio illuminated with tiny lights. It can sit a large number of guests and, for colder evenings, there are also tables inside. Their menu offers a wide range of 100% vegan and organic beverages and dishes. Entrée salads, açai bowls, and let’s not forget the fresh juice bar… A large selection of common – and less common – dishes, all united in their simplicity, can be found on the menu. Those who, like me, like having vegan meals at home will enjoy purchasing organic vegan products from the shop located within the restaurant.

These spots are all easily accessible from Château Bromont, as Shefford street is less than 10 minutes away from the hotel. For foodies, I strongly recommend you go check out the Moment without compromise package which, when paired with these visits, guarantees you an experience your taste buds won’t soon forget. Happy food sampling!
