Treating your better half to an extra-romantic dinner date!

In one of my previous articles, I mentioned the importance for couples to change up the way they spend time together to avoid settling into a boring routine. However, in wintertime, getting together around the table with some good food and a nice glass of wine in a cozy, romantic atmosphere can help warm up these cold nights. Despite all of winter’s beauty, the days are getting shorter and the sun gets a bit further away every day. Here are 5 of my favourite restaurants to spend an uplifting moment with your significant other in the Eastern Townships, a few minutes away from Bromont.

Les 4 Canards

Restaurant Les 4 Canards

It goes without saying that I can’t overlook our very own restaurant, 4 canards, located inside the hotel. Our dining room’s locally-inspired, sophisticated menu is a must for those looking to delight their taste buds. You will be charmed by the breathtaking scenery and the welcoming atmosphere, but also by our waiters and waitresses who will do everything in their power to make sure you have a splendid time. Located at the base of the Bromont, montagne d’expériences ski station, it’s also the perfect spot for a laid-back après-ski.

My favourite dish: The roasted giant scallops. Delish! They are the first scallops I’ve ever tried, and I have yet to find some that are just as good.

For an extra-romantic evening, consider making your reservation for a Saturday night – a pianist will be playing to make your date even more special.

Chardo

Chardo is a restaurant and wine bar that opened in 2017 on Shefford Street, in Bromont. Set in a modest brick house, Chardo offers a modern, sleek and simple interior. On the wine list, you’ll find a variety of organic and natural wines, including several Québec labels. They also have a selection of orange wines by the glass.

What I love about this restaurant: Ingredients sourced from our forests and lakes are given centre stage. If you like wild, fresh and local cuisine, this is a spot you’ll want to try!

Comme chez soi

Comme chez soi offers an uncomplicated, comforting and diversified menu. The atmosphere is equally well suited for a romantic date as it is for a laid-back dinner with friends. Bring your favourite wine and succumb to the table d’hôte, which is updated every month. Comme chez soi also has locations in Magog and Sherbrooke.

What I love about this restaurant: The lamb rack. It’s their speciality!

L’Attelier Archibald

If you’ve never been to the Attelier, you’re missing out. With its plush post-industrial décor and romantic, zen atmosphere, it’s THE place to go for a date with your sweetie. Chef Laurent Godbout will surprise you with his classic, comforting and reinvented dishes.

Located in Granby only 20 minutes away from the hotel, this restaurant is worth the drive. For the perfect romantic evening, the Attelier recommends its solarium which is a bit cozier. Customer service is also one of the place’s

My favourite dish: Without a doubt the prosciutto and mozzarella fondant in a sesame crust. Served with fresh spinach leaves and balsamic vinegar, I can’t resist ordering this appetizer every time I go there. It’s simply divine.

Don’t hesitate to ask for wine recommendations: the Attelier offers a wide variety of bottles of both red and white

Kenji sushi

A bit different from the previous restaurants is Kenji Sushi, also located in Granby, which is another go-to destination for dining out. Spread out on two floors, the joint allows you to bring your own wine when you sit on the lower level – a little bonus that some other restaurants don’t offer.

With its modern décor and dynamic lighting, Kenji still manages to convey a soothing atmosphere with strong accents of ocean-blue noticeable from the moment you set foot in the restaurant. The beautiful aquariums really help put you in a state of relaxation. Another good thing about this place is that if you don’t like sushi, you’ll find hot dishes of meat and fish on the menu – all with a distinctive Asian influence. There’s definitely something for everyone here.

My favourite dish: Their tuna tataki steak, incredibly light and seasoned to perfection. I don’t always go for THE most expensive item on the menu, but sometimes it feels good to treat yourself.

I hope these recommendations will inspire you to spend a cozy moment with the one you love.
